Solvent oil

Classification:

Glycerol

Solvent oil, one of the five major categories of petroleum products. Solvent oil has a wide range of uses. The largest amount is used for coating solvent oil (commonly known as paint solvent oil), followed by edible oil, printing ink, leather, pesticides, insecticides, rubber, cosmetics, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, electronic components and other solvent oils. There are about 400-500 kinds of solvents on the market, of which solvent oils (hydrocarbon solvents, benzene compounds) account for about half.

Detailed Introduction

Solvent oil, one of the five major categories of petroleum products. Solvent oil has a wide range of uses. The largest amount is used for coating solvent oil (commonly known as paint solvent oil), followed by edible oil, printing ink, leather, pesticides, insecticides, rubber, cosmetics, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, electronic components and other solvent oils. There are about 400-500 kinds of solvents on the market, of which solvent oils (hydrocarbon solvents, benzene compounds) account for about half.

The nature of solvent oil differs depending on its use, and the selection of solvent oil should mainly consider its solubility, volatility and safety. Of course, depending on its use, the other properties cannot be ignored, and sometimes even more important.

Solvent oil includes two processes of cutting fraction and refining. The process of cutting fractions usually has the following three ways: direct cutting from the atmospheric tower; cutting the corresponding light straight-run fraction into appropriate narrow fractions; and fractional distillation of the catalytic reforming residual oil. Various solvent oil fractions generally need to be refined and processed. To improve color, improve stability, remove corrosive substances and reduce toxicity, etc.. Common refining methods include alkali washing, white clay refining and hydrogenation refining, etc.

Solvent oil is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, which is very easy to burn and explode. Therefore, from production, storage and transportation to use, strict attention must be paid to prevent the occurrence of fire.

Solvent oil toxicity is expressed in three broad ways.

Lethal dose (LD): a scale generally used to indicate the strength of the physiological effects of highly toxic substances on animals.

Lethal concentration (LC): a scale used to indicate the concentration of acute poisoning.

Maximum Allowable Concentration (MAC): The maximum allowable concentration is usually expressed in parts per million (ppm or 10-6) of vapor volume in air, which is a rough estimate of solvent toxicity and varies from person to person and is not an absolute limit value.
