Kudos to the "pilot project on standardization of ecological utilization and treatment of kitchen waste"!

On October 27, the project of "Standardization Pilot Project of Ecological Utilization and Treatment of Kitchen Waste" undertaken by Shanghai Environmental Sanitation Engineering Design Institute Co.
　　
The project basically achieved the objectives of standard system development, implementation and continuous improvement at all stages, and established a kitchen waste treatment engineering design and construction standard system containing two levels of basic standards and technical standards, covering the whole process of kitchen waste treatment engineering design and construction. We have completed the draft of standards such as "Classification and Evaluation Standards of Domestic Waste", "Calculation and Prediction Methods of Domestic Waste Generation", "Technical Specification for Kitchen Waste Treatment" and "Technical Procedures for Operation and Maintenance of Kitchen Waste Treatment Plant", and guided the construction of kitchen waste resource utilization and harmless treatment projects in Minhang District within the framework of the standard system, which were successfully completed and put into trial operation. After the commissioning, the kitchen waste treatment project has achieved certain economic, environmental and social benefits, which is worth further replication and promotion.
　　
The unit said that it will further improve the standard system in the follow-up work, consciously accept the guidance and suggestions of relevant departments, and make contributions to the resource utilization of kitchen waste in the city.
　　
Kitchen waste is the most important kind of food waste, including food processing scraps (food waste) and food residues (slop) generated by families, schools, canteens and catering industries. Its composition is complex, mainly oil, water, peels, vegetables, rice and noodles, fish, meat, bones and waste tableware, plastic, paper towels and other mixtures of substances. The amount of kitchen waste in China is very huge and is on a rapid rise.
　　
Kitchen waste oil can be used as a raw material for making biodiesel, and biodiesel has now entered gas stations and started to be promoted to the society. The "standardization of ecological utilization and treatment of kitchen waste" is conducive to reducing its flow back to the table, reducing the burden of raw materials for biodiesel production enterprises, and promoting the further promotion of biodiesel to the society.
